About

A commitment to commercial lending technology
More than +30 years of experience in commercial loans, as a Project Leader, Senior Technologist, Business Analyst and Operations Specialist.
Experienced key paradigm changes on the business and technology areas of commercial lending. The move from Portfolio Lending, focused on Interest Income to Syndicated Lending, Fee Income and more sophisticated portfolio risk analysis had a huge affect on existing loan systems. The globalization of the portfolio, and the need to support multiple market segments, in multiple locations, in multiple currencies was also a challenge. The sophistication of deal structure, with global and sublimits for multiple facility types and funding rates, using pools of different collateral types also added considerable complexity to aging software.
The introduction of Personal Computers and spreadsheets to the commercial lenders and their clients forced loan technologists to acknowledge the deficiencies of rigid reporting tools that required users to retype data. Database technologies and query tools were introduced to replace the indexed, flat-files that required programming support at the physical and logic layers. Client-Server architecture was introduced to replace the tried-and-true, but slow-to-change mainframe transaction monitors (CICS).
Software Developement Methodology also needed to change to meet the challenges of the commercial lending business. Waterfall, silo-based practices have been replaced by AGILE, where high-levels of user involvement using small, frequent, incremental deliverables with iterative releases inside a fixed timeframe.
To recap, I have been doing this for a long time, and can quickly recognize and exploit technology patterns from a commercial loan system perspective, using todays tools and methodologies.
